The McAllen High School Choir Department will present Dinner Show 2013, “A Night on Broadway”, January 31st, February 1st and 2nd at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen.
The talented cast of 22 students will treat you to the songs of some of Broadway's most memorable musicals including “Fiddler on the Roof”, “A Chorus Line”, and “Cats” while other choir students serve dinner for the evening performances and dessert for the matinee. Continuing their tradition, McHi Choir promises an evening of wonderful entertainment!
Thurs., Fri, and Sat, evening performances will begin seating at 6:30 p.m. and the donation is $20.00 per person. The Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark invites the public to their all day music festival, Winterfest on January 30, 2012 from 10 Am till 6 PM at the Schlitterbahn Waterpark. Again this year, courtesy of Cavenders Western Outfitters is Pro Rodeo Clown Scott “Funky Kol” Messina of Huntsville, TX. Scott has performed at some of the largest PRCA Rodeos in the nation & has been nominated several times to work the prestigious National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas as the Barrelman as well as the “Coors Man in the Can”.
There will be something for everyone including food, vendors, bucking machine and a calf scramble for the kids. Mustang Lounge will be hosting the “Meet the Cowboy’s” after party on Saturday night, January 26, following the bull riding and Chris Marshall will play inside the arena on Sunday, January 27, from 12:00 noon until the bull riding performance starts.

1/19 - Pan de Campo Cook-Off - Edinburg
American Legion Post 408 will be hosting the 35th Annual Pan de Campo Cook Off Saturday January 19th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Competitive categories include Pan de Campo, Fajita, Carne Guisada, Charro Beans and Pork Spare Ribs. A trophy and $100 prize will be awarded to first place in all categories. Only trophies will be awarded to second and third place for all categories.

1/17 - The Alfresco Weslaco Jazz and Art on the Street - Weslaco
The Alfresco Weslaco Jazz and Art on the Street celebration will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, on S. Texas Boulevard. There will be artists, potters, sculptors and more showing and selling their wares along the boulevard, along with food and beverage vendors selling sodas, tacos and more. The event will also boast a classic car show.
The festival will feature headlining act Bongo Dogs out of South Padre Island. The large band is known for having a blend of jazz, reggae and Tejano sound, and they recently released their second album, Viva Caliche. The band will begin playing at 7 p.m.

The King lives. From 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Little Graceland in Los Fresnos, Elvis fans of all ages can enjoy a celebration dedicated to the late, great rock ‘n’ roller. There will be kiddie carnival rides, food and beverages, a classic car show, musical performances and more at the Viva Las Vegas Elvis Festival. The museum dedicated to the King will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the festivities will go on all afternoon. There will be a dance performance by the Adagio Ballet Dance School, and live music from various Elvis impersonators like Chad Roy and Rene Davis.
