Texas Street Festival
The Mercedes Chamber of Commerce and the City of Mercedes invite the entire Rio Grande Valley community to The Texas Street Festival, to be held Labor Day weekend, in beautiful downtown Mercedes.The Texas Street Festival will feature music, food, art and entertainment for the entire family. There are no other festivals of this type, scheduled for Labor Day weekend, in the entire Rio Grande Valley making it a unique attraction. The Texas Street Festival will take place on Texas Avenue, in historic downtown Mercedes and the gates will open at noon with non-stop entertainment until 1am. Enjoy great art exhibits, street vendors, street performers, and great food and beverages. This family-oriented event will feature an array of musical artists, a section designated solely to the local community which will feature live performing arts by local school organizations and universities as well as rides for children of all ages. The Texas Street Festival will feature a culturally diverse line-up of music and unique renditions from local artists all on one day and all FREE to the public.

Update from the Sunday, August 18th issue of The Monitor:
A Kids Area will be available with rides, strolling mascots and a train running the length of Historical downtown Harlingen. Texas Avenue between Business 83 and Fifth Street will be blocked for the event.
Please leave ice chests at home but bring your own lawn chairs. Artists performing are La Mafia, Control, Whiskey D, Six Strings, KidZapper with Buckin' Crazy, Anteyer, Zumba with the Divas Fitness Center, Lil' Tiger Stripes, and many more performing on two stages.

What will be free?? Just the entrance? And what are the prices for rides and food, if not free??
ReplyDeleteI imagine admission and the entertainment is what is "free." The offical website does not mention any other specific pricing though they will most likely vary by vendor. If you'd like more information you might want to email donna@mercedeschamber.com, who is the vendor contact. I hope this helps!
