12/14 - 63rd annual Longest Lighted Christmas Parade and Bazaar - San Benito

San Benito’s 63rd annual Longest Lighted Christmas Parade and Bazaar is set for 6 p.m. Saturday.
A public bazaar featuring live music, games, food and arts and crafts will run from 4 to 11 p.m. at Heavin Park.

The event’s “Cowboy Christmas” theme will help judge novelty float entries, with prize money and trophies awarded in categories including novelty floats, religious floats and marching bands, said Danny Cortez, chairman of the city’s special events board.
First-place winners will win $100, second-place gets $75, and third-place takes home $50.
Other parade entries will feature walking groups, cheer squads, dancers and horse clubs.
Entry fees will range from $25 to $35. Organizers will waive fees for marching bands.
The spirit of giving will be alive and well, with the Joe Callandret Positive Redirection Center’s entry collecting toys for needy children in the community.
Organizers ask visitors to bring unwrapped gifts to hand to students as they pass along the parade route.
Gifts will be delivered to the San Benito Fire Station for distribution to children in the 78586 zip code.
