"Battle skirmishes and reenactments by living historians will culminate with the Battle of the Alamo, Battle of Bexar and finally the final clash, the Battle of San Jacinto. This year, Texas Independence Day celebration will be conducted at the San Benito Fair Grounds on FM 510 and Cesar Gonzalez Parkway from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and continuing from 5-9 p.m. with live music and celebration at the same site.

Events begin with a parade of horseback riders, wagons and other vehicles traveling from Plaza de San Benito at 225 E. Stenger to Sam Houston Blvd, to Business 77 and finally turning on to FM 510 for the final trek to the show grounds and festival site. An official proclamation will be read at 12 noon, recognizing Texas Independence Day.

The first skirmish performed by re-enactors is scheduled at 12:30 a.m., followed at 1 p.m. and again at 3 p.m., and finally with the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico.
A highlight of the day will be a fundraising benefit drawing for a musket, similar to those used during the era when the Texas battle for independence was waged.
