The Museum of South Texas History announces their annual Día de los Muertos will be held this year on Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All are invited to join in celebrating this favorite annual event that’s also one of the most well-known holidays in Mexican culture.
Highlighting the event and on display from Nov. 2-16 will be the annual traditional Día de los Muertos Mexican Altar Exhibit. Included in the exhibit will be an altar created by local business owners and sisters, Kathy Castro and Stephanie Salazar, of Wicked Sisters.

At the heart of MOSTHistory’s Día de los Muertos celebration is the Altar Exhibit. Ranging from simple to elaborate, these traditional altars are usually dedicated to a loved one that has passed or to honor someone admired that has passed. Elements of the altar include personal items, photographs of the deceased and a variety of ofrendas or offerings such as marigold-like cempazúchitl flowers and favorite foods and beverages of the dearly departed.

Mark Nov. 2 on your calendar now and plan to celebrate this Día de los Muertos at MOSTHistory. This special event is included in the fee for regular museum admission. FRIENDS of the museum are admitted free as a benefit of FRIENDship. More information about becoming a FRIEND is available at mosthistory.org or by calling +1-956-383-6911.
