Dozens of vendors prepare a wide variety of foods from recipes handed down and perfected from generation to generation. Vendors are asked to present their unique interpretations of Tex-Mex and traditional Mexican dishes from local favorites to influences from
several Mexican states including Durango, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas and Coahuila. Delicious and authentic dishes such as caldillo, mole, menudo, tortas, abongidas and other specialties made with ingredients from Mexico have found their way to Port Isabel over generations and have come to represent the culinary culture that is uniquely Port Isabel.
In addition, there will be a traditional Mexican Costume Contest, a Grito Contest, a Dance Contest and a Jalapeno Eating Contest. Music will be provided by DJ Jeffery Martinez followed by a live performance of Port Isabel’s own “Los Dominantes”, a crowd favorite. Also presented are an array of games and activities for children of all ages including train rides, slides and a Ferris wheel. Food, vendor’s products and kiddie rides are all priced as posted.
Pachanga in the Park is a free admission, family friendly event sponsored by the City of Port Isabel and the Port Isabel Economic Development Corporation.
