More info from www.quintamazatlan.com:
Saturday, September 7th, from 9am to Noon, you are invited to join Quinta Mazatlan as we celebrate National Hummingbird Day. Visitors will enjoy a keynote presentation, art exhibit, native plant shopping, special gift store items and more!

At 9:00 am, Mary Gustafson, bird expert from the American Bird Conservancy, will give an enthralling peek into the world of hummingbirds for our keynote presentation. Guests are then free to visit our gardens for hummingbird viewing, and check out all the other wonderful stations.

An exhibit of hummingbird photographs by McAllen Native Richard Useda will be featured, with his specialty being hummingbirds in flight. Guests will enjoy viewing his incredible photographs, such as that of our Valley local Buff-bellied Hummingbird, and are invited to purchase some of their favorites to take home.

Mike Heep, owner of Heep’s LRGV Native Plant Nursery, will bring an array of great native plants for hummingbirds and butterflies available for purchase, along with his expertise on how to care for them. Learn how to design a hummingbird garden with your new plants by joining a hands-on tour. Ouina Rutledge will be on hand to talk about how she designed Quinta Mazatlan's newest Hummingbird Garden and answer questions with volunteer gardener Debbie Edwards.

Need more hummingbird gear, like feeders and cleaning brushes? Guests will be able to shop from our gift shop wares on the shaded Discovery Center patio, which overlooks the lush Ruby Pond.
