3/22 - Texas Onion Fest - Weslaco

Texas Onion Fest will take place on March 22, 2014 at Weslaco City Park, 300 N. Airport Drive

The festivities kick off on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., with live music on two stages and the lively "Onion Eating Contests". The fun will last all day with music performances on the Main Stage, a Kids Zone, two performances by the Dancing Horses, Arts & Crafts, cooking demonstrations at the Culinary Center, and so much more.

Walk back in time to discover a world ruled by giants. Dinosaur Safari features new animatronic dinosaurs not previously displayed at Zoo, along with visitor favorite, the T-Rex. Plus real fossils, and interactive activities for children, including a fossil dig and dinosaur rubbing station. Get to know all the interesting characteristics of some of these prehistoric creatures. Admission into the exhibit is $3.00 with regular paid admission or Zoo membership.

2/20-22 - Fiesta Edinburg

Fiesta Edinburg will take place on Thursday, February 20th through Saturday, February 22nd, at Edinburg Municipal Park and will have plenty to offer including the "Fiesta" Parade, Heart of America Carnival, Family Fun Zone, three mile fun run and more. Cost to enter the event is $10 per vehicle and $5 per adult (ages 11 and up). Carnival prices vary, however there will be a $5 all-you-can-ride price for Thursday's carnival.

2/16 - Health-Body-Mind Expo - McAllen

The McAllen Chamber of Commerce will host the 30th Annual "Heart of the Valley" Health-Body-Mind Expo from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Sunday, February 16th, at the McAllen Convention Center.

Hospitals, health providers, doctor clinics, fitness centers, yoga studios, nutritionists and more will participate. With the support of exhibitors, free screenings will be provided during the event along with live fitness and yoga classes, in-house massages and other activities.

Cyclists are welcome to participate in a competitive or non-competitive bike tour and race during the celebration’s early hours.

Run or Dye, the world's most colorful 5K, is coming to McAllen Convention Center on January 18! Bring all your friends and run a color-blasted 5K, where you get showered in safe, eco-friendly, plant-based cornstarch dye every kilometer.

1/17 - Senior Health Fair - Donna

Make plans to attend our Senior Health Fair on January 20 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Victoria Palms Resort in Donna. The event is free and open to all seniors, and you can take part in free health screenings, health education and demonstrations.

1/17-19 - Antique Show and Sale - Harlingen

The 43rd Antique Show and Sale will be held at the Casa de Amistad in Harlingen from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 12-5 p.m. Sunday. Dealers from all across the country bring a wide variety of quality antiques.

There will be 34 booths filled with country, English, and Victorian furniture, antique and estate jewelry, all types of glass, crystal, linens, china, antique clocks, silver, silver repair, glass grinding, and more. The women of St. Alban's will serve home cooked food all three days and sell all types of cakes and cookies.

An admission ticket good for admittance all three days is $5. Proceeds are used to fund charitable projects.

1/12 - Sounds of Splendor of Mexico - Edinburg

Performances of the Mariachi's "Sounds and Splendor of México," will take place on Jan. 9-11, 2014 at 7:00 pm and Jan. 11 and 12, 2014 at 3 pm. Tickets for all concerts are $10 at the door and will be available at the theater's box office one hour before the shows. Seating is limited so it is advised to reserve seats ahead of time.
