The carnival will be held at the UTPA Fieldhouse from 6-9 p.m. and is free and open to the public. It will include live music, games, food, prizes and other activities for the whole family, as well as a haunted house and, of course, candy.
"It is a great community event for the whole family that provides a safe environment for kids to celebrate Halloween," said Daniela Venegas, program coordinator for the Office of Student Involvement and the adviser to the University Program Board. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy three different carnival rides and participate in three different contests: pie eating, costume and "Wrap Your Mummy," where children will wrap their mothers in paper for prizes. For the costume contest, various prizes will be awarded for different age groups newborn to age 5, ages 6-12, and ages 12 and up. For more information or special accommodations, call (956) 655-7991.
